FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Over 600 children have affected by measles in which 27 died in western Ghor province last year, an official said on Wednesday.
Ghor Children Hospital Director Dr. Mohammad Musa Ulfat, said: “According to hospital’s registration last year 627 children contracted measles in which 27 died.”
Deputy Health Department Director Dr. Gul Ahmad Sahil, said efforts were made to prevent the spread of measles in the province by administrating the vaccine.
Ghor residents hailed the efforts of provincial health department saying the spread of measles was prevented due to vaccine administration.
Eid Mohammad, the resident of Ferozkoh, said measles claimed precious lives in past years but this year the virus was curtailed as a result of efforts taken by the public health department.
Abdul Basir, another Ghor resident, asked the health department to take serious steps for the prevention of viruses and other health issues.
