SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Nooruddin, a resident of the capital of northern Jawzjan province, has pardoned the convicted killer of his son.

The magnanimous move earned Noorullah profuse admiration and appreciation from elders and local residents.

Appellant Court Judge Mufti Abdul Wahab Zahid ruled seven months ago Jahanzeb had killed Feroz after a verbal clash over some issue.

He explained the case had been tried by the court at the end of eight months of work by detectives. Eventually, Jahanzeb was sentenced to death.

But the deputy minister of natural disaster management mediated between the two families and managed to end their enmity.

“Today, the one-year enmity between the families of Jahanzeb and Feroz ended. Elders from both families came together and hugged each other.”

Deputy Governor Maulvi Gul, meanwhile, hailed reconciliation between the two families. He said: “In last 40 years, we have witnessed hostilities among people and ethnic groups. We have also seen the bitter outcomes.”

Sher Sha Khan Babri, a tribal leader, said pardon and reconciliation was one of the most important pillar of humanity. Those creating divisions between families and nations were the most hated people, he commented.

Maulvi Sharafuddin Muslim, in charge of the aid management commission for earthquake-hit people, said: “Reconciliation between the two families is commendable.”

Nooruddin, the victim’s father, said: “I did not want to wash my son’s blood with the blood of other young man. Having experienced the pain of losing my son, I don’t want the other family to go through the same trauma.”

He praised efforts by Maulvi Sharafuddin Muslim for ending enmity between them. “The guidance and useful advice of Maulvi Muslim made me forgive the killer of my son.”

He hugged the murderer’s father, Mohammad Akbar, and said: “We are brothers and I have no enmity towards you or your son.”
