‘Kunduz gets industrial complex worth $10m’

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): An industrial complex worth $10 million would be built on 35 acres of government land by a businessman in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Wednesday.

Some businessmen and members of the Industries and Mining Union hailed the move and expressed their pleasure.

Kunduz agriculture director Maulvi Amanullah Hassan told Pajhwok Afghan News four factories would be built in the complex which would provide work opportunities to thousands of people directly and indirectly.

He added:  “The total cost of the complex is $10 million. It will contain factories including rice and wheat processing, pipe producing and flour mill where thousands of individuals will receive work opportunities.”

He asked those afghan traders who are abroad to return and invest here in the country.

Urging all traders to invest inside the country, businessman and builder of the complex Dawud Abassy said thousands of men would directly or indirectly obtain work opportunities with inauguration of the complex.

Abdul Aziz Zarang, head of Industry and Mine Union, said:” there are 260 active and inactive factories in the Kunduz. If industrial park was inaugurated for us, traders could thankfully make investments.”

Mohammad Rahim Seerat, head of the Industries and Mining Union, promised the construction of industrial park and support to the businessmen.

“We have proposed building of industrial park for traders, we are striving to address their problems and provide more facilities for them. We ask all traders to invest in this province,” he added.

It comes as most of people in the country are suffering from extreme poverty and are in desperate need of work.
