PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has renewed its desire for the early return of peace to Afghanistan after decades of conflict and instability.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s yearning at the 26th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organisation's Council of Ministers in Tashkent.
Radio Pakistan quoted him as warning that isolating the caretaker Afghan government would further exacerbate the suffering of the Afghans.
Zardari urged the world to respond positively to the UN secretary-general's appeal for $4.2 billion in humanitarian and economic assistance to Afghanistan this year.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkiye, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan attended the ECO meeting.
