KABUL (Pajhwok): A train carrying more than 500 tonnes of humanitarian aid from Turkey has arrived in western Herat province, says a media report.

Leaving Ankara in coordination with the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the 7th "Kindness Train" chugged into Herat on Monday.

Anadolu Agency reported the assistance would be delivered to needy households in different parts of the country in the next few days.

Herat-based Turkish diplomat Sinan Ilhan, AFAD and Turkish Red Crescent representatives welcomed the train on its arrival in the province.

Food items, winter clothing, shoes, carpets, blankets, hygiene products, wheelchairs and sewing machines are part of the latest batch of assistance from Turkey.
