SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): A resident of the Guzar village of Sancharak district of northern Sar-i-Pul province has donated 0.75 acre of land for a school.
The donation of the land worth 900,000 afs, meanwhile, was welcomed by villagers and local education officials.
Work on the school building will be launched soon with the assistance of another institution, according to officials.
Education Director Maulvi Mohammad Rahmani said: “Mohammad Gul, a resident of Gozar village, has gifted 0.75 acre of land for the school building and handed the ownership documents to the education department”.
Rahmani, who estimated the land’s value at 90,000 afs, said an organisation would soon begin work on constructing the school.
For years, Gul said, area children had been going to another village to attend classes in harsh weather conditions.
For this reason, the man said, he had dedicated his land for the school.
He added “I have handed over the land’s ownership documents to the Department of Education and hope work on the school will begin soon.”
Salam Bai, a local elder, hailed the land donation for the school by Gul as a remarkable step towards helping the people and promoting the cause of education.
