$16m being auctioned today to keep afghani stable

KABUL (Pajhwok): The central bank is set to auction off 16 million U.S. dollars today (Wednesday) in an attempt to keep the local currency stable.

Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) asked eligible lenders and money exchange services to participate in the auction -- the second during the current week.

The winners would have to settle accounts by the end of the day, the central bank said in a statement on Tuesday.

With a partial settlement not allowed, the winners are obliged to deliver the money payable to Da Afghanistan Bank in cash within a specific time.
