NELLI (Pajhwok): Agha Ali Hamdard, one of the youth from the Kaiti district of central Daikundi province, has arranged a rehabilitation facility for 20 drug addicts in the district.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News 20 drug addicts of his locality who were in terrible condition and live a difficult life were assisted towards rehabilitation and they were provided with the treatment in this facility.

Hamdard pay all the expenses for the rehabilitation and treatment of these addicts from his personal budget.

“People complained against drug addicts, they robe homes, harassed families and society thus I decided to treat all the drug addicts in the district,” he said.

“When all the addicts of Kaiti district are rehabilitated then the treatment of addicts from other district will be started,” he maintained.

He added addiction was a dangerous phenomenon and it was the responsibility of every person in the society to right against it.

He added he offered the cost of rehabilitation from his personal expenses.

Police also confirmed the rounding up of drug addicts and taking them to the rehabilitation centre.

Police Spokesperson Ghulam Ali Javid told Pajhwok Afghan News 20 drug addicts were brought private rehabilitation centre for treatment last week.

He added a local businessman will bear the cost of rehabilitation of these youth.

He hailed the initiative of Daikundi young businessman and urged other well off people to follow the footsteps.

Najib Zafari, the rehabilitation Camp head, said they treated addicts by psychological methods, held meetings and offered advices to the addicts.

Considering the condition of the patient they offered short and long term treatment to the patients.

Zafari said they are offered proper clothes and food during the treatment.

“We have a physician and a nurse that provide them with the medicine according to their condition,” he added.

The facility he said had a working license from the Ministry of Public Health and so far treated 150 addicts.

This comes that people in Daikundi province often complained against drug addicts and demanded their treatment.
