PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has decided to review its policy on Afghan refugees, says the police chief for northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari the decision to revisit the refugee policy came at the latest meeting of the Apex Committee in Peshawar.
Under the draft policy, the arrival of Afghan nationals in Pakistan would be regulated and they would be sent back on the expiry of their visas, he said.
Speaking to The News, Ansari said illegal Afghans would be detained and deported. However, he promised the
Afghans with legal documents would not be harassed.
In line with the proposed policy, the provincial police chief explained, the Afghans would have to inform police about their place of stay after entering Pakistan.
