KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says aid agencies in Afghanistan are making efforts to provide more integrated support in underserved areas in 2023.
The support is being provided through unconditional cash assistance and multi-sectoral in-kind packages in line with the severity and extent of needs now present across the country.
In a tweet, OCHA said: “Even with two-thirds of the population in need in 2023, further deterioration is highly likely unless funding levels are maintained & the root causes & drivers of needs are addressed. At US $4.6bn, the #Afghanistan Humanitarian Response Plan is the largest in the world.”
OCHA had previously said that around four million people in Afghanistan were facing malnutrition.
