PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has instructed its embassies in European countries not to grant visas to Afghan citizens till further orders, says a media report.
The Foreign Office issued the directives on Sunday after 1,600 Afghan nationals were allegedly granted Pakistani visas on fake residency cards of Sweden.
Pakistani embassies in the United Kingdom (UK), Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands have been given the orders.
The Foreign Office has launched an inquiry into the issuance of visas to the 1,600 Afghans by a Pakistan mission in Europe on bogus residency cards of Sweden, according to Pakistan Today.
The newspaper added all Pakistani missions abroad had been asked to stop issuing visas of any category to Afghan nationals until further orders.
It quoted unnamed sources as saying the foreign ministry had also ordered the cancellation of the visas granted to the 1,600 Afghans.
