Mujahid: Several killed in raid on Daesh hideout

ATLANTIA (Pajhwok): The ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid says an Islamic State hideout has been raided in Kabul.

Mujahid tweeted that the raid was conducted on the Daesh sanctuary in the Kart-i-Naw area of Kabul. Several members of the militant group were killed in the overnight operation.

He wrote the operation was carried out with caution as Kart-i-Naw was a populous neighbourhood of the capital city.

According to him, the operation targeted a key group of rebels who had been involved in several recent attacks in Kabul.

Residents wrote on their social media accounts that they heard light and heavy weapons fire in the area. The raid lasted several hours, they said.
