KABUL (Pajhwok): China and Iran have urged the caretaker government of Afghanistan to end restrictions on girls’ education and women’s work and form an inclusive government.

In a joint statement released on Thursday, at the close of a visit to Beijing by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi during which the two sides affirmed close economic and political ties and their rejection of Western standards of human rights and democracy, AP News reported.

“The two sides … called on the Afghan rulers to form an inclusive government in which all ethnic groups and political groups actually participate, and cancel all discriminatory measures against women, ethnic minorities and other religions,” the statement said, adding that the US and its NATO allies “should be responsible for the current situation in Afghanistan.”

Both sides called a peaceful, prosperous and stable Afghanistan key for the prosperity and development of the region and agreed to continue providing humanitarian and economic aid to the people of Afghanistan.

However, Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman for IEA, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the caretaker government understood the concerns of the countries, but considering the supreme interests of the country, Sharia rules and wishes of Afghan people.

He the government was striving to find solutions for all the problems.

Karimi asked the countries of the world to interact with Afghanistan as an independent country and said that Afghans were able to manage their international issues as well.
