14 killed as bus carrying wedding guests overturns in Pakistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 14 people were killed and 63 others injured as the bus carrying them overturned on the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway before dawn on Monday.

Pakistani media reported the accident took place in Kalar Kahar area. The victims were wedding guests, going to Lahore from Islamabad

Rescue teams said children and women were among the victims. A number of the injured are in critical condition.

Traffic police linked the incident to a technical fault, which caused the vehicle veering off the road.

They added a rescue operation was underway and the injured were evacuated to Islamabad and Rawalpindi hospitals.
