KABUL (Pajhwok): Customs revenue amounting to 100 billion afghanis has been collected over the last 11 months, says the Ministry of Finance.
The revenue collected by Afghanistan’s customs during the current fiscal year was unprecedented, a statement from MoF said
The annual customs revenue in Afghanistan’s history had never exceeded 72 billion afghanis, the statement recalled.
The revenue saw a record hike despite a 68 percent cut in the customs duty on food items a month still left before the end of the fiscal year.
The ministry linked the increase to the hiring of professional and committed customs staff, zero corruption and complete transparency in revenue collection.
