TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): The Land Grab Prevention Commission (LGPC) in central Uruzgan province has wrested back about 1,250 acres of government land n the provincial capital and districts during the past two months.
Maulvi Maqbool, LGPC director for Uruzgan, told Pajhwok Afghan News the commission was established and jerked into action around two months ago.
He said the commission had so far been able to reclaim 1,250 acres of land from usurpers.
He said 1,050 acres of land was identified and reclaimed in Kash area of Chori district while 200 acres more was wrested back in Charmgar area of Tirinkot City.
According to him, the committee has also identified 120 acres of land more state land and efforts are underway to retrieve it as well.
Sher Mohammad, a resident of Tirinkot City, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 200 acres of land in their area was retrieved from usurpers.
