KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) plans to bring home the bodies of Afghan refugees who recently died in Bulgaria.
At least 18 Afghan refugees, trying to reach Europe illegally, died some days back inside in a truck due to lack of oxygen in Bulgaria.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesman for MoFA, tweeted on Friday that the Afghan embassy in Bulgaria had been directed to coordinate the timely transfer of the victims’ bodies on the completion of post-mortem examinations.
He wrote the Islamic Emirate was using all means available to pave the way for a dignified transfer process. A special flight will bring home the corpses.
Balkhi added, so far, 17 of the dead had been identified and the last body eas undergoing an autopsy. All bodies will be brought to Afghanistan on the completion of formalities.
