PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) will help Afghan cricketers ahead of the T20I series between the neighbours in the UAE, believes Rahmanulah Gurbaz.

The swashbuckling top-order batter told journalists in Karachi that participation in PSL would help them understand Pakistani bowlers and batsmen.

“We have to play a series against Pakistan after the PSL. It will help us adjust to the pace of know Pakistani bowlers,” he said.

On Thursday night, Gurbaz smashed a breezy 62 off 31 deliveries and powered United to a six-wicket triumph over Peshawar Zalmi. He commended Islamabad bowlers’ comeback following blistering start by Peshawar openers.

“It was amazing game. After a poor start with the ball, we staged a comeback very strong,” Gurbaz said, referring to Peshawar’s 76 without loss in the power=play.

But they lost five key wickets inside 23 runs, diminishing their chances of setting the rivals a formidable target. They were restricted to 156 for eight, with Islamabad romping home in the 15th over for the loss of four wickets.

“I always go positive. I acted on the advice of the management, who told me to play my natural game and I did so,” the elated Afghan batsman commented.

The quality of PSL was different from other leagues, as the quickies here were bowling with a lot of aggression. “This is a good experience for me to share with my teammates back home.”
