60-year-old Afghan citizen dies in Karachi prison

KABUL (Pajhwok): An Afghan national has died in a prison in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Faiz Muhammad, aged 60, had been detained in January for illegally residing in the city, The Nation reported citing prison sources.

The daily added the Afghan consul-general in Karachi had been informed when the man fell sick in Landhi jail. The detainee died on Saturday.

Last week, the issue of Afghan nationals languishing in Pakistani jails came up for discussions between senior officials from the two countries.
