ATLANTA (Pajhwok): A key operational commander of the Islamic State- Khurasan (ISK) has been killed during an operation in Kabul, the chief spokesman for the caretaker says.
Qari Fatih was killed in a raid on a Daesh hideout in the Khairkhana neighbourhood of the capital on Monday, Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted.
Mujahid wrote the security forces conducted a targeted operation on the ISK hideout in Zakireen Township in the 17th district of Kabul.
He said one of those killed during the operation was Qari Fatih, an important member of the insurgent outfit.
He added Qari Fatih, who had previously been ISK commander for Kunar province and eastern Afghanistan, was later made operational head of the rebel group.
Mujahid said recent attacks on foreign diplomatic missions, mosques and other targets in Kabul were conducted under the direct command of Fatih.
The commander was punished for his sinister activities on Sunday night when he was killed by the security forces of the Islamic Emirate, Mujahid remarked.
He recalled that Ejaz Amin Ahangar, Daesh governor for the Indian subcontinent, had also been killed along with two more militants by the Afghan Special Forces.
A number of Daesh militants, including some foreigners planning disruptive operations, had been detained, the IEA spokesman said.
Daesh is yet to comment on Mujahid’s tweet.
