KABUL (Pajhwok): Nearly 2500 Afghan refugees returned to the country from Iran and Pakistan yesterday, tweeted the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
The majority 2189 of the total 2,487 Afghan refugees returned from Iran via Islam Qala border in western Herat province, the ministry said in a tweet.
Of the returnees, 189 people were introduced to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to receive aid.
In another tweet, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said 298 Afghan refugees returned to the country from Pakistan.
The returnees, comprising 53 families, returned to the country through Spin Boldak-Chaman crossing into southern Kandahar province.
It should be noted that Iran extradited 749 prisoners to Afghanistan today and yesterday.
