Over 28m Afghans need humanitarian assistance this year: OCHA

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says more than 28 million people need humanitarian assistance this year.

UNOCHA tweeted: “#Afghanistan is now one of the world’s largest & most severe humanitarian crisis with a record 28.3 million people – that is two-thirds of its population – in need of humanitarian and protection assistance in 2023.”

Earlier, the UN agency said that 4.6 billion dollars were needed for humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan in 2023.
