Daikundi teacher who has dedicated life to educating children

NEILI (Pajhwok): Kubra Haideri, principal of a girls’ high school in this capital city of central Daikundi province, has dedicated her life to educating children, declining lucrative job offers.

Kubra Haidari is a resident of Neili city and has been teaching at the Naswan Sangmum high school since last two decades.

Haidari told Pajhwok Afghan News that she was interested in the teaching career and joined the Sangmum High School in 1382 as a teacher and after ten years, she was promoted to the position of the school principal in 1392.

She said she was interested in teaching job since her childhood and continued to struggle to reach this aim.

Haidari said: “Previously when we faced teachers’ shortage in our school, I would teach the second shift free of charge”.

She continued to serve as a freelancer teacher for ten years because she did not want the students of another shift to be deprived of their lessons.

“When I started the teaching job, I made a commitment with myself not to let even a moment go to waste”.

She stressed on her commitment, loyalty and proactivity in her teaching career and said she would struggle as much as she could for the development of the students.

She said those who pursued education, they gain the knowledge of both of the worlds (this world and hereafter) and witness positive changes in their lives.

She said currently there were 700 female students under her management and even a moment’s negligence had a heavy religious responsibility.

The experienced teacher has chosen doing service to the society as her life’s mission. She is happy to teach her students honestly as more as she can in the most difficult situations.

Haideri said receiving salary was not her aim as she had refused multiple job offers in other organizations.

“I feel more comfortable in this profession”.

“I used different skills to increase my capacity as a teacher and improve my teaching methods”, she said.

Haidari faced numerous problems during her two decades of service such as lack of school building, drinking water and the shortages of books and other teaching materials.

She said besides other problems, currently students of class eight attended classes under the tents.

She also tried to make the school environment greener and collected some tree saplings from local elders and tribal people’s council and planted them in the school premises.

Wrapping up her conversation, she urged the people to never abandon education under any circumstances. Haidari stressed efforts must be doubled to improve the education sector.

Local officials admit Haidari is an experienced teacher and has long served the residents.

Ali Rahimi, head of the Monitoring Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the school where Haidari served was assessed as one of the best schools.

Majority her students had reached high academic levels, he said.

He said officials of the monitoring department had always struggled to solve the problems of that school.

Civil society activists also praised Haideri for playing positive role in educating the children of the community.

Saifullah Andeshmand, a civil society activist, said most people knew her because of her services for the school and because her students had reached high academic levels.

“The services of such people are very impressive for the community because they enlighten the society,” Andeshmand said.

Royan, another activist, said the efforts of such people must be appreciated because they work for change in the society.

Royan said: “However I do not personally know her (Haidari), but I have heard from other people that Haidari has worked a lot for the education of students, this is a valuable service”.

Mujhgan, student, told Pajhwok it was very important to study because knowledge helped humans become perfect and intelligent.

“The development of our country is tied to education, the society can prosper through knowledge”, she said.

Mujhgan urged all students to make learning education their top priority.

Hedayatullah, another resident of Daikundi, also believes that education and knowledge is the only way to get rid of misfortunes and problems. “Countries that invest in the education of children reach prosperity.”

Hedayatulla urged the government to pave the way for education of all children of the country.
