KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has scorned the US CENTCOM chief’s statement regarding the presence of Daesh in the country.
CENTCOM Commander Michael Kurilla recently warned the Islamic State, having a footprint in Afghanistan, could target US interests outside the country in less than six months.
The commander, testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, said the militant was fast gaining the capability to carry out operations in Europe and Asia.
But the IEA foreign minister rejected the top US commander’s statement and insisted there were no foreign insurgent groups operating in Afghanistan.
In an interview with the state-run broadcaster, Amir Khan Muttaqi denied internecine difference among the Afghans.
The people giving such statements were either unfamiliar with the situation in Afghanistan or had a hidden agenda behind their words.
