Hajj affairs chief for Aqcha district stabbed to death

SHEBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Unidentified assailants stabbed to death a hajj and religious affairs official for the Aqcha district of northern Jawzjan province, police said on Sunday.

Police spokesman Qari Abdul Sattar Halimi told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Maulvi Abdullah, head of hajj and religious affairs for Aqcha district, was stabbed to death while performing ablution in a mosque in Kharabat Street area on Saturday night.”

He said Maulvi Abdullah was recently introduced as head of hajj and religious affairs for the district.

The motive behind the murder of Abdullah was yet to be ascertained, he said, adding an investigation into the incident was underway.
