KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) says it paid $12.4 million to 190,000 Afghans against temporary employment under ABADEI programme in 2022.
However, UN OCHA urged continuation of assistance in order to control the economic situation of the Afghans.
UNDP tweeted: “UNDP’s ABADEI programme provides temporary paid employment to thousands of workers across #Afghanistan, helping families to weather the economic crisis.”
However, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization says that the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has reduced the ability of many families, especially those headed by women, to meet their basic needs.
But FAO tweeted: “The ongoing humanitarian crisis has reduced the ability of most Afghan families, especially those headed by women, to cover their basic needs.”
“With USAID funding, 7,000 people in Nimroz received multipurpose cash assistance to meet their vital needs during the winter.”
