MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Three people have been killed as a result of a dispute over grassland in the Dawlat Abad district of northern western Faryab province an official said on Sunday.
Maulavi Shamsullah Mohammadi, head of the Information and Culture Affairs Department, said that the people from the Tahiri tribe in Dawlat Abad district engaged in verbal dispute which resulted into firefighting. He said three people were killed in the clash from both sides while security forces also arrested some individuals and launched investigation.
The Governor Office in a statement said, three people have been killed in a dispute over glass land and security force seized three Kalashnikovs.
The incident is being investigated, the statement said.
While Mohammad Aziz, an influential figure of Dawlat Abad district said, the dispute happened between cousins of Tahiri tribe in the Shor Darya area over a piece of grassland which led to the death of three persons (one from one party and two from the another).
A source on the condition of anonymity told Pajhwok: “Two persons, who were cousins to each other, had verbal dispute over some pasture which developed to armed clash yesterday at 3:00pm, the fight ended with the killing of Wali Jan, from one party and the murder of Majnoon and Bazak from another party”.
It is pertinent to mention that disputes over grassland between livestock farmers of two tribes in Dawlatabad, Khawaja Musa and Pashtonkot districts remained unsettled over the past several months while this latest incident among the people of one tribe resulted in casualties.
