KABUL (Pajhwok): The BBC has announced the suspension of its Farsi radio, saying it will focus more on publications on digital platforms.
After 82 years, the BBC said its Farsi radio would stop broadcasting today (Sunday).
It said the decision was as part of “strategic changes’ aimed at focusing more on publishing content on digital platforms.
For many years, BBC Persian radio informed its audience in Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan for several generations. Many citizens of these countries, especially Afghanistan, have fond memories of this radio programs.
Gul Ahmed, a 63-year-old resident of Kabul, said when he was young, he used to fall asleep and wake up again with the sound of the BBC radio.
