KABUL (Pajhwok): Russia says its consulate general in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, is already operational.
The state-run news agency TASS quoted Russian presidential envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov as announcing the functioning of the diplomatic mission.
Alexey Pereverzev is serving as Russian consul general in Mazar-i-Sharif, where the Russian consulate had suspended its work amid uncertainty in 2021.
Russian diplomats were evacuated in January 2022, but the consulate was reopened after a thorough analysis.
