JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 49 Afghan prisoners have been handed over to Afghan officials by Pakistan at the Torkham crossing in eastern Nangarhar province.
The Nangarhar Information and Culture Department said the Afghans were earlier freed from Pakistani jails. They had been imprisoned due to lack of legal travel documents.
In a brief statement, the department said the Afghan, following their release, were handed over to government officials at the Torkham port earlier in the week.
In recent months, hundreds of Afghan nationals have been released from Pakistani jails and deported to their homeland.
