KABUL (Pajhwok): The government has decided to ban the import of chicken weighing beyond two kilograms to the country and eggs without freezer.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock held a coordination meeting with poultry farms owners on how to control the prices of poultry products.
The meeting was chaired by Mufti Zakirullah, Director of Animal Health and Livestock at the Ministry of Agriculture, Mukhtar Muhseni, Director of Animal Health, advisors to the Ministry of Agriculture and a number of members of the Afghanistan Poultry Association, including producers of chicken feed, meat and eggs, according to Bakhtar news agency.
Based on the request of the Poultry Association and the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture, the import of chickens weighing more than two kilograms to Afghanistan was banned as well as the import of eggs that were imported to Afghanistan without a freezer.
The producers of chicken feed, eggs and meat promised not to increase the prices of poultry products for three months.
