MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Solar systems worth 50 million afghanis were distributed among 1,000 needy families in northern Balkh province.
Speaking on the occasion, Balkh Refugees and Repatriation director Asadullah Wafa said the aid recipients had been surveyed earlier and today they were assisted with solar power systems.
He said the total worth of the aid was 50 million afghanis and each solar system cost 50,000 afghanis.
He assured that he had held meetings with national and international aid giving organizations on resolving the problems being faced by refugees.
Aga Khan office head in Balkh, Hijratullah Yousafzai, said their office prepared the aid for needy families with financial support of the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR.
He said 562 families from Mazar-i-Sharif and 438 families from districts received the assistance.
Musa, one of the aid recipients, told Pajhwok his electricity problem would be solved with the assistance. He called on other donors to help the poor and displaced families.
