KABUL (Pajhwok): A Swiss national of Afghan origin for the first time won a seat in Geneva Parliament, according to a well-placed source on Thursday.
Ahmad Shah Sangdil, the brother of Javid Sangdil who won a parliament seat, on his facebook page wrote: “Prof. Dr. Javid Sangdil, an Afghan youth who contested elections on the Freedom and Justice Party won a parliamentary seat for which 690 candidates from 13 political parties had nominated themselves.”
He added: “It was the first time that a Muslim, Afghan and Asian won a parliament seat in the Swiss election.”
Sangdal said Geneva parliament had 100 seats and members are appointed for five years.
