Salaries of university teachers increased up to 54 percent

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Higher Education has increased the monthly salaries of university professors from 36 to 54 percent according to their academic ranks.

The Ministry of Higher Education wrote on its Twitter page the pay raise was effective from next month.

The ministry said the increase in salaries was on academic ranks and each teacher would receive the salary of his position.

This follows a Pajhwok Afghan News report in which some professors of government universities said that their salaries and allowances had been reduced by almost 38 percent a few months ago.

They demanded increase in their pays given the increase in the prices of commodities and their work obligations.
