MEHTHARLAM (Pajhwok): The distribution of new textbooks has been launched in central Laghman province in line with the directives of the Ministry of Education.
Maulvi Shah Jahan Sajid, director of education, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 290,466 textbooks had reached Laghman and their distribution had got under way.
He said the textbooks for different subjects, published in Pashto and Dari, were being issued to students from first to 12th grade.
Subhanullah, a student of the 12th grade at the Abdullah Laghmani High School, said they faced a shortage of textbooks in the past.
One book was previously used by five to eight students. He recalled, welcoming the government’s step.
According to information from the Education Department, a total of 228,943 girls and boys are enrolled in schools across Laghman.
