PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Eight people, including six policemen have been killed in two separate attacks in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province.
At least four police personnel lost their lives in a gunbattle with terrorists during an operation on Tuesday morning, a local official said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Zuhaib Moshin said the operation was launched against terrorists involved in attacks on security forces.
The terrorists opened fire on the raiding party from a house in Kuchlak and killed four policemen. One terrorist was killed in return fire from the security personnel.
On Monday, four people were killed and 21 others wounded in a bomb explosion in city. The blast occurred near a police vehicle parked in Kandahari Bazaar area. Two policemen and as many civilians lost their lives.
A minor girl was among the dead, Quetta Civil Hospital spokesman Dr Wasim Baig told Pakistan’s leading newspaper Dawn.
The injured included women and children, the official said, adding three to four kilos of explosives were used in the explosion.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, denouncing the attack, prayed for the deceased and extended his condolences to the bereaved families.
