Pakistan: Committed to stable Afghanistan

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has reiterated its strong commitment to a stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari renewed Pakistan’s pledge in a telephonic conversation with his Afghan counterpart Amir Khan Muttaqi on Saturday.

In a brief statement, the Foreign Office in Islamabad said “They discussed a range of issues of mutual interest.”

Meanwhile, an Islamabad-based source revealed Bilawal Bhutto conveyed Pakistan’s concerns over terrorist activities in the country.

Bilawal urged Kabul to crack down on outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants, who are allegedly hiding in the neighbouring country.

However, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has repeatedly promised not to allow anyone to use Afghanistan’s territory against a third country.

In February, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif led high-leve; delegation to Kabul for talks on security issue. ISI chief Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum was part of the visiting team.
