US politically and militarily defeated in Afghanistan: China

KABUL (Pajhwok): China says the US was politically and militarily defeated in Afghanistan and the country’s so-called war on terrorism increased the menace further.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting of foreign ministers of regional countries in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, China’s foreign minister Qin Gang criticized America and demanded that the United States should learn from its failures in Afghanistan.

A few days back, the White House blamed former President Donald Trump for the hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan and called it an intelligence failure.

In response to a question, the Chinese foreign minister said that the US defeat in Afghanistan had several aspects.

Qin Gang added America suffered a military defeat in Afghanistan because its military campaign did not bring peace in Afghanistan and the war continued for 20 years.

According to him, America also suffered a political defeat in Afghanistan as its attempt to impose democracy in Afghanistan was a failure because of which national reconciliation did not happen.

He said the US also failed in its war on terrorism because the number of terrorist groups increased from one to 20 during the past two decades.

The minister said the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan did not relieve America of its responsibilities.

He asked the US not to turn a blind eye to the sufferings and problems of the Afghans and release the frozen funds of Afghanistan as soon as possible. .

The US has not yet reacted to the remarks of the Chinese Foreign Minister.
