HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Women entrepreneurs partaking in an exhibition in western Herat province say they need government’s support to promote their businesses.
The exhibition titled “Eid Bazaar” that kicked off on Thursday in Marmar market would last for 10 days.
Members of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Western Zone welcomed the exhibition, saying products of businesswomen of Herat Province were displayed in forty stalls of the “Eid Bazaar” exhibition.
Behnaz Seljuqi, deputy head of the chamber, told Pajhwok Afghan News that handicrafts, local clothes, bags, shoes and other handicrafts of women have been put on display for visitors and buyers on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
While thanking the local administration for its support, she said Afghan women entrepreneurs should be supported in every feild because most them were the breadwinners of their families.
On the other hand, businesswomen and exhibitors called such fairs imperative for the growth of their businesses and they wanted more serious support from the government.
Laila Hussaini, one of the organizers of the Eid Bazaar exhibition, called the show an opportunity to sell women's products and empower them in the business arena.
She said currently their business was new and she wanted the government and international institutions to support businesswomen.
Samira Forough, one of the visitors, said that such exhibitions for women could encourage their entrepreneurship and they could earn good income.
