IEA asks Russia, partners for formal recognition

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Maulvi Abdul Kabir has asked Russia to move beyond diplomatic ties and recognise the caretaker Afghan government.

Kabir met a delegation led by the chief of mosques representing the Muslims community of the country, on Sunday, said a statement from the deputy premier’s office.

Delegation leader Gadjiov Mohammad Amrovich and Deputy Director of International Islamic Culture of Russia Mohammad Bashir Magmidovich hoped IEA’s positive activities would eventually lead to its recognition by the world.

The delegation also talked about the spread of Islam in Russia. Muslims faced no problem in that country, the visiting team said.

During the meeting, Kabir said: “We expect your arrival will lead to the development of trade relations between Afghanistan and Russia and you will paint a good image of Afghanistan to the world.”

The deputy prime minister asked Russia not to restrict its relations to the diplomatic level but to recognise the IEA formally.

Kabir assured Russia the territory of Afghanistan would not be used against anyone.

No country of the world has so far recognized the caretaker government but several countries have reopened their diplomatic missions in Afghanistan.
