Student killed, 2 injured in Ghazni lightning strike

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Lightning hit three students returning from school in the Waghiz district of southern Ghazni province, killing one and injuring the two, an official said on Thursday.

The incident took place the previous day near Shahid Qari Abdul Karim High School in Khan Mohammad Baba area, but authorities shared it with the media today.

Maulvi Muhammad Umar Haqqani, director of natural disasters in Ghazni, told Pajhwok that the students were on their way home from school when hit by lightning strike.

One child was killed and two others were seriously injured, who were currently being treated in Ghazni Regional Hospital.

He said the students were aged around 10 years.

Doctors at the regional district hospital said the injured students were in critical condition.
