KABUL (Pajhwok): Eid is the best opportunity to get rid of grudges, envy and hatred and reconcile because Islam praises those who take the lead in this regard.

Today is the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr, all Muslims after performing Eid prayers hug each other and exchange greetings.

However, there are some families who are engaged in hostilities and have differences over some issues and do not talk to each other, but the religion of Islam invites such people to reconciliation.

According to the Sharia Law, it is not permissible for a Muslim to forsake his Muslim brother beyond three days,  religious scholar Qazi Mohammad Hasan Haqyar told Pajhwok Afghan News.

“The days of Eid are the days of happiness and celebration for Muslims, the Prophet (PBUH) has called on those who do not talk to each other to reconcile during the days of Eid.”

A mediator who reconciles two Muslim brothers gets more blessings, Haqyar said.

While another scholar, Mufti Shamsur Rahman Frotan says hatred and grudges must not continue beyond three days.

He added: “Eid the is the best opportunity to be seized, taking advantage of this day, which is the day of blessings from Allah (swt), people should avoid hatred and hostilities and everyone should be happy from each other and make peace with each other.”

Some families who are upset from each other should seize this opportunity and make peace.

A Kabul resident, Masooma, said: “For several months, I was upset with my sister-in-law because we had fought and today, the first day of Eid, we reconciled  and now we are happy.”

Meanwhile, Asadullah, a resident of Kabul, also wants people who are at war to reconcile during Eid.

Narrating his own story, he said: “I was at war with my brother for many years and we did not reconcile and my brother died and I regret my actions.”
