MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Fifteen people have been killed and injured in four separate traffic accidents in northwestern Fayab province, and official said on Monday.

Traffic Department Director Hamd Fahim Kohi told Pajhwok Afghan News two youth — 17, and 18, were killed  in two separate traffic accidents while three more people wounded in traffic accidents in the limits of Maimana City, the provincial capital.

Elsewhere, two people got killed and as many injured when two motorcycles collided on Sunday night, Kohi said.

He said the reason for these traffic accidents were over speeding of Bikes’ riders, Kohi added.

Doctor Sanjar Omari, the director of Andkhoi hospital has also confirmed t two bodies and two injured persons had been brought to the hospital from the sites of the accidents to hospital, he added, after initial treatment, the victims were sent to the provincial hospital of Jawzjan province for receiving further treatment.

On the other hand, the head of Traffic Accidents Department of Faryab said, three persons were injured on Saturday while their corolla type car overturned in Shirin Tagab district.

However, Doctor Abdul Hadi, a senior physician of Faryab provincial hospital told Pajhwok, three wounded youth were taken to the emergency ward of Maimana city on Sunday.

But another source in Maimana hospital says, during the three days of Eid festival, about 20 injured people were transferred to this hospital due to traffic incidents caused by motorcycles accidents.

However, the director of traffic accidents department said that their police were present on the roads for the control of the traffic during the Eid holidays, nevertheless a large number of youth caused disturbance and anxiety to the people due to over speeding.

He asked the guardians of the families to advise their youth to avoid over speeding and not cause fatalities.
