KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 30 traffic accidents took place during three days of Eidul Fitr festival across the country, leaving 20 dead and scores of others wounded, officials said on Monday.
Director of Planning and Policy at General Department of Traffic, Samonmal Abdul Wadud Khairkhwah told Pajhwok a total of 35 accidents occurred across the country during the three days of Eid which ended on Sunday, with four accidents taking place in Kabul.
In these misshapes, 20 people have died and more than 40 people, including women and children, have been injured.
In eastern Nangarhar province, a child was killed and 121 people were injured in three traffic accidents in the province during the three days of Eid.
According to the General Department of Traffic, 1,314 traffic accidents occurred across the country in the last nine months of last year, leaving nearly 3,000 people dead and wounded.
Broken roads, carelessness and speeding are main causes of traffic accidents.
