ATLANTA (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has rejected a leaked Pentagon assessment on Afghanistan as ‘biased and part of a propaganda campaign’.

IEA spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on his Twitter page that some western media had published reports that a classified document of the Pentagon claims Daesh is planning attacks in Afghanistan has become a center of terrorism.

He added: “We strongly reject this claim.”

The classified Pentagon assessment says Afghanistan has become a significant coordination site for the Islamic State as the terrorist group plans attacks across Europe and Asia, and conducts “aspirational plotting” against the United States.

The attack planning, detailed in US intelligence findings leaked on the Discord messaging platform and obtained by The Washington Post, reveal specific efforts to target embassies, churches, business centers and the FIFA World Cup soccer tournament, which drew more than 2 million spectators last summer in Qatar.

Pentagon officials were aware in December of nine such plots coordinated by ISIS leaders in Afghanistan, and the number rose to 15 by February, says the assessment, which has not been disclosed previously.

“ISIS has been developing a cost-effective model for external operations that relies on resources from outside Afghanistan, operatives in target countries, and extensive facilitation networks,” says the assessment, which is labeled top-secret and bears the logos of several Defense Department organizations. “The model will likely enable ISIS to overcome obstacles — such as competent security services — and reduce some plot timelines, minimizing disruption opportunities.”

Mujahid said Afghanistan had become a peaceful country at the regional level and the best example was this year’s Eidul Fitr.

He said fortunately no security incident occurred across the country during Eid holidays. He said the Afghans witnessed continuous developments and interaction with the world on political and diplomatic fronts.

Mujahid said intelligence agents bearing Afghans ill will were behind such irresponsible claims and the publication of self-made documents.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has full control over the country and allows no one to use Afghanistan against the security of any other country, especially the insurgent group like Daesh, which has been severely suppressed and is being eradicated.”

He also said despite commitments and practical measures of the Islamic Emirate, Afghanistan was still called ‘a danger’ to the world.

Instead of welcoming the positive messages of peace and stability, such biased reports show that some circles in America still want to continue their  hatred and enmity with the people of Afghanistan, he added.

Mujahid said people’s minds could not be misled through such unsuccessful attempts.
