Nangarhar: 121 wounded in accidents during Eid

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 121 people have been wounded and a minor girl killed in traffic accidents in eastern Nangarhar province during the Eid festival, an official said on Monday.

Naqibullah Rahimi, spokesman for the Public Health Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News 122 injured people were evacuated to the main regional hospital.

One of them, a girl, succumbed to her injuries, the spokesman said.

He added 42 people were evacuated to the hospital of the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr, 43 on second and 37 others on the third of the festival for medical treatments.

Some of them have already been discharged while others are still under treatment, according to the official.

After the end of war in the country, many entertainment-starved Afghans converge on remote areas. More often not, traffic cause traffic congestion and speeding lead accidents.
