JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Over 180,000 tourists from different parts of the country visited eastern Nangarhar and Kunar provinces, officials said on Wednesday.
Sediqullah Qureshi, deputy head of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department in Nangarhar, told Pajhwok Afghan News thousands of tourists visited Jalalabad, the provincial capital and some districts during Eid days
“Around 150,000 tourists from different provinces visited Pachir Agam, Bati Kot, Kama, Spinghar, Achin, Khogyani, Hisarak and other districts during Eid.”
According to local residents the natural beauty of mountains, greenery and nation-wide security were the main factors that forced people to come out of homes and visit these places.
Mohammad Nawaz, who visited Pachir Agam’s Torabora area, said for years he heard this name in the news but now since he came and visited
the area he was pleased and fully enjoyed it natural beauty.
Besides Nangarhar’s districts, scores of people visited parks and tourists places in Jalalabad City, the provincial capital of Nangarhar, Many people visited the Seraj-ul-Emara garden.
Mawlavi Munibullah Afghan, deputy head of the Kunar Information and Cultural Affairs, said: “According to official statistics, nearly 30,000 tourists from different provinces entered Kunar province from the first day of Eid.”
He added during Eid days special teams were tasked to provide assistance, advice and support to tourists.
But tourists complained against deteriorated road condition and lack of proper place for stay.
Baheer Khan, from Kandahar province visited the Sarkano district and Nawapas area said most roads in Kunar were not asphalted and lacked other services for tourists as well.
It is pertinent to mention that after a long war, people in a huge number go out for tourism during Eids and Nawroz.
