Doha meeting to consider IEA achievements, hopes Hanafi

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy prime minister for administrative affairs Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi has said he hopes next month’s meeting on Afghanistan in Doha will consider the Islamic Emirate’s achievements.

UN secretary general Antonio Guterres will host the closed-door gathering featuring special envoys on Afghanistan from various countries in Doha on May 1 and 2.

Hanafi hoped the Doha meeting would make positive decisions keeping in view the Islamic Emirate’s positive and important actions to prevent drugs, corruption and ensuring security.

The ARG announced on its Twitter page that Hanafi met today (Thursday) with UN secretary general’s deputy special representative Markuz Potzel.

Potzel informed Hanafi about the upcoming conference on Afghanistan and said that representatives of 22 countries and two international organizations would partake in the conference.

The Doha meeting is expected to discuss durable security in the region and the world and human rights and other issues related to Afghanistan.

Porzel praised the Islamic Emirate’s actions regarding security, fighting drugs and administrative corruption and said these actions had a positive effect on the interaction between the Islamic Emirate and the international community.

He was happy with the strengthened security in Afghanistan and hailed the efforts of security forces.

Hanafi called bilateral meetings between Islamic Emirate and UNAMA officials important for increasing coordination between the Islamic Emirate and the United Nations.

He added that the Islamic Emirate respected international laws, human rights, education and freedom of the press within the framework of Sharia and their national interests.

Hanafi called complete ban on narcotics and the elimination of administrative corruption and increased trade and revenue as some of the Islamic Emirate’s achievements.

He hoped the Doha meeting would take effective and positive decisions considering the positive and important measures of the Islamic Emirate in the mentioned areas.
