KABUL (Pajhwok): Forty-four people have been killed and 822 others injured during post Eid-ul-Fitr period as result of traffic accidents nationwide, according to Traffic Departments and local officials.
The casualty figures confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News by local authorities and traffic officials during the period.
The recent deadly traffic accident happened in Kandahar province where 50 people were killed and injured.
Eleven people were killed and nine others injured in a traffic accident in Balkh Nahr-i-Shahi district. Women and children were among the victims, according to Police Spokesperson Mohammad Asif Waziri.
In Kandahar’s Daman district, six people were killed and 18 others injured when a 404 type bus overturned.
The Governor Spokesperson Haji Zaid told Pajhwok Afghan News that injured had been shifted to the Hospital and some injured persons were in critical condition.
Eleven people were injured in a traffic accident in the Asfandi area of Ghazni City, the provincial capital of southern Ghazni province, Police Spokesperson Abu Khalid Sarhadi said.
Earlier, officials in Andar district said that tens of patients injured in traffic accidents had been provided with treatment and discharged. They said the accident happened during Did days.
Mawlavi Mohammad Wazir Yahya, deputy district administrative chief, said 180 traffic accident happened in the districts in which 328 people were injured.
He said the health condition of 11 people was critical who were dispatched to Ghazni City and Kabul for treatment.
