KABUL (Pajhwok): The UN secretary-general will host on Monday special envoys for discussions on ways of persuading the interim Afghan government to rethink its policies.
Antonio Guterres would meet special representatives from different countries at a secret venue in Doha, AFP reported on Sunday.
The Taliban government has banned girls from secondary and university education besides restricting women from working, for UN agencies.
Guterres will meet representatives from about 25 countries and global institutions a day ahead of a UN-convened meeting on Afghanistan in the capital of Qatar.
The Taliban government has not been invited to the May 1-2 meeting.
At Monday’s talks, the secretary-general will brief the envoys on UN’s relief operation in Afghanistan and the impact of the ban on female Afghan workers.
US Afghanistan envoy Thomas West has been travelling across West Asia in recent weeks meeting different governments and groups.
